Seattle, WA – Residents across the Pacific Northwest may want to keep umbrellas handy as early October is shaping up wetter than usual, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters with the NWS Climate Prediction Center said Friday that Oregon, Washington, and parts of Idaho face an increased chance of above-normal precipitation from October 2 through October 10. The 6–10 day outlook shows a strong signal for wetter conditions, especially west of the Cascades.

Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to trend warmer than normal across most of the western United States. According to the NWS, much of the Pacific Northwest will likely experience mild to above-average warmth through October 10, even as precipitation increases.

This setup could bring unsettled weather patterns to cities including Seattle, Portland, and Boise, where residents may see frequent showers paired with slightly higher-than-average temperatures. For travelers, the early October pattern could mean slick commutes and minor flight delays as storm systems move through the region.

The outlook does not guarantee daily rainfall but signals an overall wetter pattern. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts for short-term updates as systems approach.
