Seattle, WA – The National Weather Service Ocean Prediction Center has issued multiple Gale Warnings for offshore waters stretching from Cape Flattery, Washington, to Cape Lookout, Oregon, where winds up to 40 knots and seas as high as 21 feet are expected through Friday night.

According to the latest forecast, southerly winds will intensify late Thursday, reaching 30 to 40 knots overnight before gradually subsiding into the weekend. Seas are forecast to peak between 14 and 21 feet Friday night, creating hazardous conditions for all marine traffic between 60 and 250 nautical miles offshore.

The strongest winds will occur in the outer waters west of Washington and northern Oregon, with slightly lower seas expected closer to shore. Mariners are urged to avoid open waters, secure vessels, and monitor updated forecasts for changes in wind and sea state.

Conditions are expected to slowly improve by Saturday night into Sunday, though seas will remain elevated through early next week.
