Pacific County, WA – Major flooding is impacting areas near Rosburg and Naselle after both the Grays River and Naselle River rose above Major Flood Stage on Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Portland.
At 7:25 p.m. Saturday, the Grays River near Rosburg reached 32.5 feet, triggering significant flooding of lowland areas and roads along Highway 4. Officials warn that nearby routes such as Covered Bridge Road, Loop Road, and Barr Road are likely closed or impassable. Homes in low-lying zones near the river are at risk of flooding above this level.
Later that evening, at 8:55 p.m., the Naselle River also reached Major Flood Stage at 17 feet, causing extensive flooding across the Naselle area. The NWS reported that numerous homes may be completely surrounded by floodwaters, and State Route 4 has become flooded in spots with deep, swiftly moving water.
Residents are urged to avoid travel through flooded areas, as water depth and flow can be deceptive, especially at night. Officials remind drivers: “Turn around, don’t drown.”
