According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle around 3:27 p.m. Monday for speeding and failing to display a vehicle registration plate. The stop occurred on Highway 43 near Pioneer Road in the Town of Grafton, Ozaukee County, north of the Milwaukee metro area.

Authorities said the vehicle exited the interstate at Pioneer Road and stopped at a gas station located at North Port Washington Road and Pioneer Road. After stopping, the driver allegedly fled the scene on foot. The front-seat passenger remained inside the vehicle and was detained by deputies.

A perimeter was quickly established, and several law enforcement agencies assisted in the search, including the deployment of a drone team and K-9 units, officials said. After an extensive search, deputies located the suspect in a field northwest of the initial traffic stop location.

The driver was identified as 38-year-old Mario Beltran of Milwaukee. According to authorities, Beltran was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated – 1st Offense, obstructing, and possession of THC. Investigators also confirmed Beltran had active arrest warrants through the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

The passenger was identified as 29-year-old Tori Henderson of Milwaukee. Henderson was issued a citation for obstruction after allegedly providing a false name to law enforcement.

Assisting agencies included the Grafton Police Department, Cedarburg Police Department, Mequon Police Department, and the Ozaukee Central Fire Department.
