Port Washington, WI – Residents across Ozaukee and Washington counties are encouraged to safely dispose of unused or expired medications during a Drive-Thru Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, participants can drop off medications anonymously — no questions asked — at any of three drive-thru locations:

  • Ozaukee County Transit Center, 741 W. Oakland Ave., Port Washington
  • Concordia University, 12800 N. Lake Shore Dr., Mequon
  • Washington County Highway Facility, 900 Lang St., West Bend

Residents are asked to bring expired or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, veterinary medicines, and vape cartridges (with batteries removed). Liquids are accepted if kept in their original packaging.

Items not accepted include illegal drugs, needles or sharps, aerosols, biohazard materials, and personal care products such as shampoo or toothpaste. Authorities recommend placing medications in a clear, sealable plastic bag before drop-off.

Officials say the event helps prevent prescription misuse, accidental poisonings, and water contamination caused by improper disposal. The initiative is part of a broader statewide effort led by the Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department and the DEA National Take Back Program.

Residents unable to attend can find year-round drop boxes through local police departments and pharmacies.
