Springfield, MO – After a mild and sunny Thursday, rain showers and cooler temperatures will return to southwest Missouri by Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield.

Highs today will range from 65° to 73°, with the warmest conditions east of Springfield. By Friday, clouds and light to moderate rain will spread across the area, especially along and west of Highway 65, dropping daytime highs into the mid- to upper 50s.

Rain is expected to continue intermittently through Saturday, with cool and cloudy weather persisting into the weekend. While the rainfall won’t be continuous, forecasters note that several rounds of light to moderate showers are likely, particularly west of the Ozarks Plateau.

Drier conditions and slightly warmer temperatures are forecast to return late in the weekend, marking the start of a more stable pattern for early next week.
