Springfield, MO — A quick-moving clipper system will cross the Ozarks on Monday, spreading light snow across the region from the morning through Monday night, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield. Snow chances range from 35% to 70%, though accumulations are expected to remain under an inch for most locations, except for areas north of Highway 54 where totals may be slightly higher.

Timing & Impacts

Forecast guidance shows snow showers starting with isolated to scattered coverage from 9 AM to noon, with minimal accumulation. Coverage increases through the afternoon, and the best window for snow sticking to roadways comes during a quick eastward-moving snow band between 4 PM and 11 PM.

Residents should plan for minor travel impacts, particularly if driving during ongoing snow or in areas that see brief bursts of heavier snow rates. Visibility may be reduced at times.

Freezing Rain Risk in the South

Extreme south-central Missouri — including areas near the Arkansas border — may see light sleet or freezing rain, producing a glaze of ice on elevated or untreated surfaces. While impacts are expected to be minor, even light icing can make bridges and overpasses slick.

Cold Week Ahead

Temperatures remain below normal through the start of December. Morning wind chills today dipped into the single digits, and highs through midweek will remain in the 30s to lower 40s. After Monday’s system exits, the region turns mostly sunny Tuesday and Wednesday before another chance of rain or snow arrives Friday.
