SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Cooler fall air will settle over the Ozarks through the weekend, bringing multiple nights of frost risk as skies clear and winds ease. The National Weather Service in Springfield says overnight lows will dip into the mid-30s from Thursday night through Saturday, setting up the season’s most widespread frost potential so far.
According to the NWS, patchy frost may form tonight mainly in sheltered valleys and rural areas north of U.S. 60, where brief clearing occurs. A more widespread frost is likely Thursday night into Friday morning, especially across central and south-central Missouri, including Lebanon, Rolla, and Ava.
By Saturday morning, lows in the upper 30s could again lead to frost formation across much of the region, depending on cloud cover. Daytime highs will hold in the 50s, providing a cool but pleasant setup for outdoor events.
Residents are urged to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing ahead of the colder mornings. Those with overnight travel or camping plans should prepare for chilly conditions in the Ozark hills and low-lying valleys.
The broader pattern will remain dry through the weekend, with light winds and sunny afternoons returning by Sunday as temperatures slowly rebound.
