Springfield, Missouri – Warmer weather has arrived in southwest Missouri, with temperatures expected to run five to ten degrees above average today and continue warming into next week.
According to a National Weather Service update from Springfield, highs today are forecast to range from 46 to 57 degrees, with overnight lows between 29 and 37 degrees. Breezy conditions are expected west of Springfield, though no hazardous weather is anticipated.
The warming trend becomes more pronounced heading into the weekend and early next week. Forecast highs are expected to reach the low to mid-60s by Friday, dip slightly Saturday, then climb into the upper 60s by Sunday. By Monday and Tuesday, some areas may see highs approaching or exceeding 70 degrees.
The temperature increase will be noticeable along major travel corridors including Interstate 44, U.S. 65, U.S. 60, and the James River Freeway. While travel impacts are not expected, commuters may experience chilly mornings followed by mild to warm afternoons.
Overnight lows will also trend upward, rising from the 20s and 30s later this week into the 40s and low 50s by early next week. This will reduce the risk of freezing conditions after Saturday night.
Rain chances remain low through the weekend. The National Weather Service noted a slight chance for showers Tuesday, with probabilities currently around 20 to 30 percent. No widespread rainfall or severe weather signals were indicated at the time of the update.
The rapid warmup may be especially noticeable for students, outdoor workers, and commuters adjusting to larger day-to-night temperature swings. Residents are encouraged to dress in layers and stay updated on forecast changes as the warmer pattern settles in.
