Springfield, MO – Residents across southern Missouri and southeast Kansas can expect a mix of windy, rainy, and cool conditions today before temperatures drop sharply later this week, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield.

Forecasters say rain chances will continue through the day Wednesday, gradually ending from west to east. The eastern Ozarks could see up to 1.5 inches of additional rainfall, while areas farther west may receive around a tenth of an inch. No flooding is expected.

A Wind Advisory is in effect through 1 p.m. Wednesday for areas along and west of Interstate 49, where gusts of 30 to 45 mph are likely. The weather service cautions that small limbs may break and loose outdoor items could be blown around.

As the system moves out, colder air will settle in. Overnight lows in the 30s are expected from Thursday through Sunday, bringing patchy to widespread frost across the Ozarks. Conditions Thursday night into Friday morning are expected to produce the most widespread frost of the stretch.

Daytime highs will remain cool, reaching the 50s to low 60s through the weekend.
