Little Rock, AR – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock has extended a Flood Watch through Wednesday afternoon, warning that additional heavy rainfall may trigger flooding across large portions of central, north-central, and western Arkansas.

According to the NWS, several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected, bringing widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches, with localized amounts of 5 to 8 inches possible. Some areas have already recorded more than 6 inches of rain since Monday, increasing the risk of flash flooding.

The Flood Watch includes a broad swath of Arkansas counties, covering communities such as Little Rock, Conway, Russellville, Harrison, Batesville, Mountain Home, Searcy, Hot Springs, Mena, and Clarksville.

Officials warn that rivers, creeks, and streams may rise quickly, and low-water crossings could become impassable. Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to remain alert, monitor forecasts, and be prepared to move to higher ground if conditions worsen.

The NWS stresses that flooding is a leading cause of weather-related deaths and urges drivers to remember: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” when encountering flooded roads.

The Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon, with conditions expected to gradually improve as rainfall tapers off midweek.
