Camden, AR – The National Weather Service in Little Rock has extended flood warnings for the Ouachita River, with minor flooding expected at Camden and Thatcher Lock & Dam.
According to the National Weather Service, as of Thursday morning, the river at Camden measured 28.5 feet, surpassing the flood stage of 26.0 feet. The river is forecasted to drop below flood stage by Friday evening and continue receding into next week. Areas such as Sandy Beach Park and parts of the Riverwalk on Washington Street are currently inundated, with minor impacts reported along State Highway 7.
At Thatcher L&D, the river was recorded at 81.6 feet Thursday morning, with projections showing a crest of 81.9 feet late Thursday night before gradually declining. The flood stage at this location is 79.0 feet.
Officials urge motorists to avoid driving through flooded roads and to heed barricades for safety. The next update is scheduled for Friday at 10:30 a.m. CST.
