Holland, MI – A submerged SUV was recovered early Friday morning by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team after it crashed through a guardrail and landed in a creek near Leonard Street and 112th Avenue.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded before sunrise on March 28 after a passerby reported the vehicle in the water. Upon arrival, authorities located the car fully submerged but unoccupied. No individuals were found in or around the scene.

Photos released by the sheriff’s office show the dive team navigating murky waters and using a crane to extract the heavily damaged vehicle from the creek. Investigators believe the vehicle had left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and entered the water, but the circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.

Authorities have not yet identified the vehicle’s owner, and it’s unclear whether anyone was injured or if the driver fled the scene.

Residents in the area are urged to report any related information to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Drivers are also reminded to use caution on rural roads, especially at night and near bridges or waterways where visibility and barriers may be limited.
