Oswego, Illinois – Oswego police arrested a 38-year-old man Wednesday after a reported domestic incident escalated into a forced entry at a residential home.

According to the Village of Oswego Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 700 block of Spires Drive after a female reported a domestic disturbance.

Police said officers heard screaming coming from the garage upon arrival. Officers made contact with a male subject, later identified as Lawrence L. Bradley, who was initially cooperative. Authorities said Bradley allegedly slammed the front door shut, refused to allow officers to speak with the female caller, and would not permit officers to leave the residence.

Due to what police described as exigent circumstances, officers breached the front door and took Bradley into custody without further incident.

Bradley was arrested for obstructing a peace officer. The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office later approved an additional charge of unlawful restraint, a Class 4 felony. Obstructing a peace officer is a Class A misdemeanor.

Bradley was transported to the Oswego Police Department, booked, and later taken to the Kendall County Jail pending a detention hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Multiple units from neighboring law enforcement agencies responded to assist, resulting in a large police presence in the neighborhood.

Police emphasized that all charges are allegations and that Bradley is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
