Oswego, IL – Oswego police arrested two suspects Thursday after a burglary at a local convenience store. Officers responded to a theft in progress at 7-Eleven on East Washington Street around 3:17 a.m.
According to Oswego police, surveillance footage showed two individuals repeatedly entering the store and stealing merchandise. The store owner, who was off-site, observed the theft and contacted police. The suspects fled before officers arrived, but surveillance captured clear images of them and their white sedan. The stolen merchandise was valued at over $6,100.
At 6:21 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance at the AmericInn on Douglas Road. They found a male suspect matching the burglar’s description and later located his female accomplice. Police recovered stolen items and took both into custody.
The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Dante Medford, 29, and Empress Stewart, 20, with three felony burglary counts. Medford also faces an obstruction charge. Both suspects remain in Kendall County Jail, awaiting pretrial hearings.
