Oswego, IL – A 37-year-old Aurora man was taken into custody Friday morning after allegedly stealing bicycles from a retail store in Oswego.
According to the Oswego Police Department, officers responded around 10:05 a.m. Friday to a reported theft in progress at Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 2470 Route 34. Witnesses stated two males each took a bicycle and left the store without paying. Officers later spotted one of the suspects on Route 34 in possession of two additional bicycles.
The individual, identified as Marcello Esquivel-Medina of Aurora, was allegedly involved in the theft and was arrested without incident. The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office subsequently approved charges of burglary (Class 2 felony) and retail theft (Class 3 felony).
A search conducted at Esquivel-Medina’s residence on the 1300 block of 5th Street in Aurora led to the recovery of the two bicycles reported stolen. Authorities noted that the second suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
