Orlando, Fla. – Afternoon thunderstorms will continue to roll through Central Florida over the next several days, with heavy rain and lightning expected to disrupt weekend plans and early-week commutes. Highs will push into the upper 80s and near 90, keeping conditions steamy and unsettled.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, storm chances rise to 50 percent today and again Monday, with most activity building after 1 p.m. Gusty winds and brief downpours could slow drivers along I-4 and surface roads in Orlando and across Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties.

Friday and Saturday bring a 30 percent chance of storms, mainly in the afternoon, while Sunday could see stronger cells with gusts topping 20 mph. Forecasters caution that localized flooding is possible in low-lying neighborhoods, especially where storms repeatedly track over the same areas.

Residents are urged to keep devices charged, avoid outdoor activities during lightning, and allow extra travel time in the late afternoon. Daily rain chances persist through Tuesday, with storms most likely in the late day hours.
