Orlando, Florida – Travelers heading to Disney World on Tuesday face a double threat of dangerous heat and strong afternoon storms, with lightning and gusts up to 55 mph expected near the park. A peak heat index of 107°—and possibly higher—could make outdoor plans especially hazardous in and around Orlando.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a 60% chance of afternoon thunderstorms is forecast across the interior, including Kissimmee, Sanford, and Orlando. While coastal cities like Vero Beach and Port St. Lucie see only a 30% chance of rain, the inland areas face heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and wind gusts that could disrupt travel and theme park operations.

Daytime highs will climb into the mid-90s, but it’s the humidity that will push conditions into dangerous territory. Visitors to theme parks and outdoor attractions are urged to stay hydrated, take frequent indoor breaks, and monitor for lightning alerts. The heat index may reach as high as 109° in isolated spots, especially during peak afternoon hours.

Storm chances remain elevated through the weekend, with Wednesday through Saturday also seeing widespread storms and slightly cooler highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
