Orlando, FL – A rare Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for much of Central Florida, including Orange, Seminole, Brevard, Volusia, Lake, and Osceola counties, as temperatures are expected to plunge late Monday night into early Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, wind chills could fall as low as 25°F, with overnight lows around 36°F in the Orlando metro and colder readings in rural inland areas. The advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Forecasters warn that prolonged exposure to cold wind chills could lead to hypothermia, especially for those without adequate shelter. Residents are urged to dress in layers, bring pets indoors, and protect sensitive plants from the cold.

Winds from the northwest will reach 15 mph overnight, with gusts up to 25 mph, further driving down “feels-like” temperatures. Conditions will quickly improve by Tuesday afternoon, with sunny skies and highs near 57°F.

Officials also remind residents to use heaters safely, ensuring proper ventilation and avoiding the use of generators or grills indoors.
