A cool, still breeze sweeps through Central Florida this morning, carrying a rare December chill across the palm-lined streets of Orlando and the Space Coast. With lows near 50°F and daytime highs climbing into the upper 60s, residents are waking to another brisk but bright start — more reminiscent of fall than the usual Florida warmth.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, the state remains under the influence of a dry, stable air mass through Thursday, keeping skies mostly clear and humidity comfortable. Light north and northwest winds around 10 mph will help maintain those cooler mornings, though the afternoons will gradually warm to near 70°F by midweek.

By Thursday, temperatures begin to rebound slightly as winds shift from the west, pushing highs close to 69°F and setting up a pleasant stretch of weather heading into the weekend. Friday and Saturday are expected to be mostly sunny, with highs in the low 70s and lows around 50°F — ideal for outdoor events, early Christmas shopping, and evening strolls along Lake Eola or Cocoa Beach.

Meteorologists say this is part of Florida’s annual “winter tease,” when brief cold snaps slip south before quickly giving way to warmer, dry conditions. For now, it’s jacket weather in the mornings and perfect blue skies by afternoon — a welcome reprieve from the summer’s humidity.
