Florida wakes up to a rare February chill as thermometers hover near 40 degrees in Orlando, with colder pockets dipping into the mid-30s. A light breeze pushes wind chills into the upper 20s early this morning. Lawns sparkle with frost in sheltered neighborhoods. Sensitive plants and exposed pipes remain at risk through mid-morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory remain in effect until 9 a.m. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees have been recorded in parts of inland Volusia, Lake, Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties. Wind chills have fallen as low as 25 degrees. A Frost Advisory continues into early Wednesday morning from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Communities from Orlando to Melbourne and Titusville face the greatest agricultural impact. Tender vegetation may suffer damage if left uncovered. Residents should bring pets indoors and check on elderly neighbors. Avoid using outdoor grills or generators inside enclosed spaces.

Sunshine returns quickly today, and highs rebound to 61 degrees. Another chilly start develops late tonight with patchy frost possible after 2 a.m. Wednesday turns much milder, reaching 72 degrees under sunny skies. By Thursday, highs surge near 80 degrees with a steady southwest breeze.

Friday introduces a 50 percent chance of afternoon showers, with highs climbing to 84 degrees. Showers become more likely Friday night. The weekend stays warm, with highs near the upper 70s and scattered rain chances.
