Orlando, FL — Central Florida is seeing another warm and mostly dry day Saturday, offering summerlike conditions during the busy weekend before Christmas, while beachgoers are urged to use caution due to ongoing rip current hazards.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Saturday, December 20, will feature high temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s across East Central Florida. Orlando is expected to reach around 76 degrees, while nearby communities including Kissimmee (77°), Melbourne (76°), Vero Beach (78°), Port St. Lucie (80°), and Okeechobee (81°) climb well above seasonal norms. Rain chances remain near 0 percent across the region.
Forecasters say conditions will be mostly dry and sunny, with a light northeast breeze helping keep humidity levels manageable. While inland weather remains calm, coastal conditions tell a different story.
The National Weather Service has issued a moderate rip current risk for all Atlantic beaches, including those along the Daytona Beach, Space Coast, and Treasure Coast. Surf heights of 3 to 4 feet are expected, creating dangerous swimming conditions even under sunny skies. Officials strongly recommend swimming near lifeguards and avoiding the water if unsure of conditions.
“Nice weather can be deceiving,” forecasters cautioned, noting that rip currents often develop on calm, sunny days.
With holiday travel and outdoor plans increasing, residents and visitors are encouraged to stay hydrated, use sun protection, and follow beach safety guidance. The warm pattern is expected to continue into the Christmas week, keeping temperatures well above average for late December.
