Orlando, FL – Central Florida’s stretch of warm, sunny afternoons is about to take a brief detour. Meteorologists say a developing Gulf system will bring increasing rain chances late Saturday into Sunday, creating damp conditions for weekend travel and outdoor plans across the Orlando metro area.
After a mild and mostly sunny Friday near 82°F, clouds will build across Orange and Seminole counties. The National Weather Service in Melbourne reports rain chances rising to 40–50% Saturday night through Sunday, with scattered thunderstorms possible along the I-4 corridor. Any heavier bursts could cause ponding on low-lying roadways and temporarily reduce visibility, particularly during early morning commutes or evening events.
Despite the rain, temperatures will stay above average — highs near 80°F Saturday, falling slightly to the mid-70s Sunday. Winds from the southwest will carry in humid air, keeping nighttime lows mild in the mid-60s. While widespread flooding isn’t expected, drivers should exercise caution in areas prone to standing water and allow extra time when traveling.
Conditions gradually improve by Monday, with bright skies and lower humidity making for a pleasant start to the week.
After all, Florida’s winter rhythm is more about rain than frost — and this weekend looks to prove it again.
