Orland Park, Illinois – A fire inside a laundry room forced temporary closure of an Orland Park salon Friday.
According to the Orland Fire Protection District, firefighters responded around 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 13 to reports of smoke inside the Mario Tricoci salon on the 15400 block of 94th Avenue.
Orland Fire Battalion 6 arrived first, followed by Orland Fire Truck 1, and crews located a large one-story commercial building with no visible smoke from the outside after checking all four sides. As firefighters began investigating inside, they discovered heavy smoke along the floor, which helped crews quickly identify the source as the salon’s laundry room.
Fire officials said the building was evacuated as a precaution while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
Engine 5 repositioned to the rear of the building, and firefighters entered through a rear entrance to reach the source of the fire. Multiple crews worked together to extinguish the flames.
Officials reported no injuries to occupants or fire personnel.
The fire damaged part of the business and forced a temporary closure, according to the fire district.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Orland Fire Protection District said crews received assistance from the Tinley Park and Palos fire departments, which responded to the scene and helped provide coverage for other emergency calls while Orland firefighters remained committed to the incident.
The salon is located in a busy commercial corridor, and closures or emergency responses in the area can affect nearby workers and evening commuters traveling along 94th Avenue.
Authorities have not released an estimate of damages.
