Orland Park, IL – The spirit of giving is underway in Orland Park as the Veterans Advisory Board launches its annual “Cookies for the Troops” collection drive, running November 7–19. The initiative gathers store-bought or bakery-packaged cookies, candy, hot chocolate, and small decorations to send to service members stationed away from home this holiday season.

According to the Village of Orland Park, residents are also encouraged to include a signed holiday card or letter with their donations to share a personal message of gratitude.

Drop-off sites include several local facilities:

  • Orland Park Village Hall (14700 S. Ravinia Ave.)
  • Sportsplex (11351 W. 159th St.)
  • Orland Park Health & Fitness (14921 S. Ravinia Ave.)
  • Franklin Loebe Center (14650 S. Ravinia Ave.)

Additional collection events will take place at Apple Chevrolet (8585 W. 159th St.) on Friday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and at the Orland Park Public Library (14921 S. Ravinia Ave.) on Saturday, November 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Community members who wish to participate can learn more by contacting the Veterans Advisory Board at 708-403-6115 or emailing veterans@orlandpark.org.
