Medford, OR – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions across Southern Oregon, particularly along I-5 and surrounding highways, starting today and continuing into Friday morning. Forecasters warn of snow accumulations between 4 and 7 inches in most areas, with higher elevations potentially receiving up to 10 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning will remain in effect from 4 p.m. today until 10 a.m. Friday. The heaviest snowfall is expected overnight, creating dangerous travel conditions during both the evening and Friday morning commutes. Drivers should exercise caution, particularly on I-5, Highway 62, and Highway 238.

Prepare by carrying emergency supplies, such as a flashlight, blankets, and water, in case of delays. Temperatures will remain below freezing overnight, with lows near 31°F, and winds could further reduce visibility.

Looking ahead, conditions are expected to improve by Friday afternoon, with partly sunny skies and highs near 38°F. The weekend offers some relief, with mostly sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday and temperatures reaching 40°F.
