Medford, OR – A major winter storm will bring more than two feet of snow to the Southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains from early Friday through Saturday night, creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, snowfall totals could reach 12 to 24 inches above 5,000 feet, with some area’s especially higher peak seeing up to 30 inches. Winds gusting up to 50 mph will cause blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Key impacted routes include Highways 138 and 230 near Diamond Lake, Highway 62 near Crater Lake, and Highway 58 at Willamette Pass. Travel could be extremely difficult, particularly during Friday’s morning and evening commutes.

Drivers are urged to prepare for snow-covered roads, possible closures, and low visibility. For updated road conditions, visit tripcheck.com or call 511.
