Medford, OR – The National Weather Service in Medford is forecasting a change in the weather pattern late Thursday through Saturday, as a warm front moves across southern Oregon.
The system will bring beneficial rainfall to the region, with totals ranging from 0.25 to more than 1 inch depending on location. Snow levels will remain **high—between 6,000 and 8,000 feet—**keeping winter impacts minimal for most areas.
The main concern will be gusty winds on Friday, especially for those traveling or recreating in the mountains above 5,000 feet, where gusts between 35 and 45 mph are expected. In lower elevations and valleys, winds will range from 15 to 25 mph, with calmer conditions in sheltered areas.
The rain and wind will continue into Saturday as the system gradually shifts south. Drivers and hikers are advised to use caution in higher elevations, where winds could make travel difficult.
