Portland, Ore. – A stretch of sunshine and mild temperatures will give way to a much wetter pattern for Portland starting late Sunday, with rain and even thunderstorms expected early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, the city will see mostly clear skies Saturday with highs near 79 before clouds increase late Sunday. Showers are likely to begin after 11 p.m. Sunday, with rain continuing into Monday. Some storms may also develop Monday morning, bringing periods of heavier downpours and possible lightning across the metro.

Travelers on Interstates 5 and 84 should plan for slower commutes as wet pavement and reduced visibility move in. Outdoor events scheduled for Sunday evening may be impacted by the shift to rainy conditions. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items and check storm drains ahead of the system to reduce localized flooding.

After a soggy Monday, showers will linger through Wednesday, with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s. More unsettled weather could follow into midweek, keeping conditions damp across much of the Willamette Valley.
