Pendleton, Oregon – Eastern Oregon’s string of sunny, warm days will give way to clouds and showers by Friday night, marking the region’s first stretch of cooler, wetter weather in weeks.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, high temperatures will reach the mid-70s through Thursday before dropping into the low 60s by the weekend. A 20% chance of showers begins Friday afternoon, increasing to 60% by Saturday night and Sunday.

Residents in Umatilla, Hermiston, and Milton-Freewater should prepare for periods of light rain and cooler mornings, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 30s. Winds may gust up to 18 mph Friday, adding a chill to the air after several calm days.

Drivers are advised to watch for slick roads and patchy fog during early weekend hours, especially along Interstate 84 and U.S. Highway 395. Outdoor events and harvest activities may see interruptions Saturday afternoon into Sunday.

The NWS says showers may linger into Monday, with brief clearing possible by Tuesday. Additional weather statements could be issued if rainfall intensifies across the Columbia Basin.
