Medford, OR – Medford and surrounding areas in southern Oregon are expected to experience a significant change in weather later this week as a strong low-pressure system moves into the region. Starting Thursday, a much-needed round of rainfall will bring relief from ongoing smoky conditions, with afternoon highs cooling down to levels more typical of late October.

The National Weather Service in Medford has forecasted a 60-80% chance of receiving at least 0.10 inches of rain in Medford, Roseburg, and Mount Shasta City on Thursday, with slightly lower chances in Klamath Falls and the Cascades. Thunderstorms are possible, though severe weather is not expected. Rain will continue into Friday, with similar probabilities for additional precipitation.

According to the latest forecast, temperatures will drop significantly by Thursday, with highs around 71°F, down from the mid-80s earlier in the week. The cooler weather will persist through Saturday, with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s. Clear skies are expected to return by Sunday, bringing a gradual warm-up into the low 80s. This cooling trend offers a temporary respite from the heat typical of late August, resembling autumnal weather patterns.
