Oregon’s high desert is waking up under a steel-gray sky as cold air settles over Pendleton. Light rain and snow showers are developing, and temperatures sit near 36 degrees at Eastern Oregon Regional Airport.

Clouds thicken through the morning with a chance of rain and snow after midday. Highs climb near 47 degrees, but snow levels hover around 2000 feet before lowering tonight. That drop matters. As temperatures fall to around 27 degrees this evening, rain may switch to snow and create slick stretches on I-84 and Highway 11.

Plan for changing road conditions after sunset. Even light moisture can refreeze quickly this time of year. Flash freezing becomes a concern when wet pavement cools into the 20s. Slow down on bridges and rural routes outside city limits.

Snow remains likely tonight with snow levels lowering to near 1200 feet. Accumulation looks light in town, generally under a half inch, but bursts could briefly coat untreated roads.

Wednesday brings a 50 percent chance of snow before late afternoon. Highs hold near 40 degrees with gusts up to 18 mph. Wednesday night turns partly cloudy and colder, with lows near 23.

Thursday keeps a 40 percent chance of snow and highs near 38. Friday trends drier with a slight snow chance and highs around 40. By the weekend, temperatures rebound into the mid-40s Saturday and near 50 Sunday with rain returning.

Looking ahead, the 6–10 day outlook favors near- to above-normal temperatures across much of the Northwest. A gradual warming trend from early next week into late February hints at early spring warmth replacing this winter chill.
