Medford, OR – Rainfall is expected to continue across Southern Oregon today through Thursday afternoon, with the National Weather Service in Medford reporting scattered showers, light mountain snow, and varying precipitation totals across the region. A brief dry stretch is forecast to return Friday and last through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, areas along and near the coast—including Gold Beach, Brookings, and Port Orford—could see the highest rainfall amounts, with totals near or slightly above one inch by Thursday. Northern Douglas County may also receive measurable precipitation during this period, though inland valleys such as Medford and Grants Pass are expected to see lighter totals, generally between 0.15 and 0.25 inches.

Light snowfall is anticipated in higher elevation areas, including the Cascades, Siskiyou Summit, and around Crater Lake. Most locations are forecast to receive less than one inch, with isolated pockets approaching one to two inches. Impacts are expected to remain minimal due to temperatures hovering near or above freezing.

Forecasters note that the overall pattern will shift by Friday, with dry conditions expected across most of Southern Oregon from Friday through Sunday. However, isolated coastal areas may still see passing showers. The next chance for widespread rainfall returns early next week, likely between Monday and Tuesday.

Short-term probabilities released by the weather service show near 100% chances of at least 0.25 inches of rain along the coast through Thursday, with significantly lower probabilities east of the Cascades—including Klamath Falls, Lakeview, and Alturas.

Drivers in higher terrains are urged to watch for slick conditions, especially overnight when colder temperatures could allow spotty icing.
