Eugene, Ore. – The morning clouds are beginning to thin across the southern Willamette Valley, but don’t let the comfortable start fool you. Sunshine will steadily strengthen through the day, sending temperatures climbing into the 90s before even hotter weather settles over western Oregon during the middle of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Portland, Eugene will reach a high near 91 degrees Monday under mostly cloudy skies with light north-northwest winds. While today’s warmth is noticeable, it serves as the opening act for a hotter stretch arriving Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday marks a significant jump in temperatures as skies gradually clear and highs climb to 97 degrees. Light winds become north-northwest around 6 mph during the afternoon, providing little cooling during the hottest part of the day. By Wednesday, sunshine dominates with another hot afternoon expected as temperatures reach 96 degrees.
Residents planning outdoor work, recreation, or sporting events should schedule strenuous activity during the morning whenever possible. Stay hydrated throughout the day, wear lightweight clothing, and take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned locations. Vehicles parked in direct sunlight can heat rapidly, even with outside temperatures in the 90s.
Travel conditions remain favorable on Interstate 5, Beltline Highway, and Oregon Route 126, although afternoon pavement temperatures will become increasingly hot. Drivers should carry extra water, especially on longer trips, and check tire pressure before traveling during peak heat.
No thunderstorms or rainfall are expected across the Eugene area through Wednesday. The active monsoonal weather affecting parts of the Southwest remains well to the south, while western Oregon stays under a dry and stable summer weather pattern.
A slight cooldown arrives Thursday with sunny skies and a high near 89 degrees, though temperatures remain above seasonal averages. Longer-range outlooks continue favoring above-normal warmth into late next week, suggesting summer heat will remain a recurring theme across the Willamette Valley.
