Oregon’s Blue Mountain foothills are roaring this morning as powerful wind gusts sweep through Pendleton and the Grande Ronde Valley. Loose debris skitters across driveways, and tree branches sway sharply in the cold air. Temperatures sit near 36 degrees, adding a biting edge to the wind.

A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. this evening. The National Weather Service in Pendleton reports south winds between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph. The strongest winds are expected near the southern Grande Ronde Valley and around Ladd and Pyles canyons.

Travel along Interstate 84 could become hazardous, especially for semis and other high-profile vehicles. Sudden crosswinds may push vehicles out of lanes. Downed tree limbs and isolated power outages are possible. Secure outdoor items now and avoid parking beneath large trees.

Rain chances increase later today with highs near 58 degrees. Tonight brings a 50 percent chance of rain and lows around 40. Monday turns wetter, with rain likely after mid-morning and highs near 58 again. By Monday night and Tuesday, rain becomes more widespread, with up to a quarter inch possible at times.

By Wednesday, skies begin to clear with highs near 51 and lows dropping to around 32 degrees. That colder air could create slick spots if pavement stays wet into the evening. Watch for potential flash freezing in shaded areas.

The 6–10 day outlook hints at gradual moderation, with drier breaks and hints of early Spring Warmth by late week.
