Pendleton, OR – Rain showers will persist across the Pendleton area today, potentially impacting travel and outdoor activities. A freeze watch is in effect for tonight, with temperatures expected to dip below freezing. Residents are advised to take precautions to protect sensitive plants and prepare for possible icy conditions on local roads, particularly near major routes like I-84.

According to the National Weather Service, an upper-level system will bring rain to Pendleton and surrounding areas throughout the afternoon. While most areas will see under 0.10 inches of rain, elevated terrains near the Cascade and Blue Mountains could receive up to 0.30 inches. The rain is expected to taper off by evening, but temperatures will drop significantly overnight.

Thursday night’s forecast calls for mostly clear skies with a low around 29°F, prompting a freeze watch from late Thursday through Friday morning. This drop in temperature may lead to frost and ice, especially on elevated surfaces and bridges. Motorists should be cautious and allow extra time for morning commutes on Friday due to potential slippery conditions.

Looking ahead, Pendleton will enjoy a brief respite from the rain on Friday, with sunny skies and highs around 60°F. Saturday remains mostly sunny with a high near 73°F, offering a pleasant start to the weekend. However, by Sunday, there is a slight chance of rain in the afternoon, increasing to a 60% chance by Sunday night. Monday’s forecast also includes likely rain, with highs near 59°F, signaling a return to wetter conditions.
