Portland, Oregon – Portland will bake under scorching temperatures Monday as highs climb to 94°F, with dry winds and low humidity prompting concerns about fire danger across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, north-northwest winds could gust up to 20 mph Monday afternoon, compounding dry conditions. Temperatures are expected to stay in the upper 80s to low 90s through Tuesday before slightly easing midweek.

Daytime highs Monday and Tuesday will top 89°F in Vancouver, Tigard, and Gresham. Evening lows in the low 60s will offer limited relief. The dry air and breezy conditions—combined with bone-dry vegetation—create conditions ripe for grass or brush fires, especially in outlying counties like Washington, Clackamas, and Multnomah.

Residents are urged to avoid open flames, properly extinguish cigarettes, and delay mowing or yard work during the heat of the day. Those spending time outdoors should hydrate frequently and seek shade during peak afternoon hours.

Conditions will remain dry and hot into the Fourth of July holiday, with sunny skies and highs near 82°F expected Thursday. No major cooldown is anticipated until the weekend.
