Medford drivers and residents will face another blast of late-summer heat today before fall-like conditions arrive later this week. Afternoon highs near 95° on Tuesday and 92° on Wednesday could make travel along I-5 and area roads challenging as asphalt and cabin temperatures rise quickly. People are urged to limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day and carry water when driving or working outside.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, the Rogue Valley will stay under clear skies through midweek before a shift begins Thursday. Southwest breezes will stay light, keeping smoke and haze minimal, but heat remains the main concern. Emergency managers remind residents to check on vulnerable neighbors and avoid leaving pets or children inside parked vehicles.

By Thursday, temperatures begin sliding back into the upper 80s, with partly cloudy skies signaling the first hint of fall. Friday brings mostly sunny conditions near 86°, and overnight lows in the upper 50s will offer some relief. Conditions remain dry, meaning fire danger lingers, especially in southern Oregon foothills.

The weekend looks comfortable, with highs in the upper 80s and more seasonable nights in the mid-50s. While no storms are on the horizon, residents should watch for updated fire weather alerts as vegetation stays dry and winds could shift by Sunday.

Warnings remain in effect for hot afternoons through Wednesday, with a cooling trend expected to continue into early next week.
