Pendleton, OR – A winter storm is set to impact Oregon from Tuesday through Thursday, bringing rain to lowland areas and significant snowfall to the mountains. The Oregon Cascades and Northern Blue Mountains could see accumulations of 8 inches or more, with probabilities exceeding 70% in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, light rain is expected in lower elevations beginning Tuesday as a trough moves southeast. Snowfall is projected to be heaviest in La Grande, John Day, and Walla Walla, where precipitation probabilities peak at 85%, 70%, and 80%, respectively, by Thursday. Other areas, including Bend and Pendleton, are expected to receive moderate precipitation.

Dry conditions will briefly return on Wednesday due to an upper-level ridge, but another system is forecast to bring additional snow and rain by Thursday. Travel conditions may become hazardous in mountain passes, including Santiam Pass, where snowfall probabilities exceed 90%.

Residents are advised to prepare for potential winter driving conditions, monitor weather updates, and exercise caution when traveling through affected areas. More information and forecast updates can be found at weather.gov/pendleton.
