Portland, OR – Cooler fall air is settling into northern Oregon, and residents of the Upper Hood River Valley are being warned of overnight frost developing late Sunday into Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a Frost Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. PDT Monday for communities including Odell and Parkdale. Overnight lows between 34 and 36 degrees are expected to create patchy frost, which could harm or kill sensitive outdoor plants.

Officials urge residents to cover tender vegetation or bring potted plants indoors. Using lightweight fabric coverings such as bedsheets or thin blankets can help retain warmth and prevent frost damage.

The frost marks one of the first cold snaps of the season for the Hood River Valley, signaling a transition toward more typical October weather. Daytime highs Monday are expected to rebound into the upper 50s under mostly clear skies.
