Hood River, OR – Residents in the Upper Hood River Valley should prepare for freezing conditions Monday night as temperatures are expected to drop below 32 degrees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland.
The Freeze Watch takes effect late Monday night through Tuesday morning, impacting communities including Odell and Parkdale. The NWS says temperatures between 28 and 32 degrees are possible, with the coldest readings likely in Parkdale.
According to the NWS, there’s a 50–90% chance of temperatures at or below 32 degrees and a 5–35% chance of reaching 28 degrees or colder. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Officials urge residents to wrap or drain outdoor pipes, or allow them to drip slowly to prevent freezing. Gardeners are encouraged to move potted plants indoors and cover sensitive vegetation to reduce frost damage.
This freeze watch marks one of the first significant cold snaps of the fall season for the Columbia Gorge area, signaling an early shift toward winter-like conditions.
