Oregon – Cool, damp air settles across the southern Willamette Valley this morning as low clouds drift over Eugene. Streetlights glow faintly through patches of fog while the first hints of sunshine begin pushing through the gray.

Early temperatures hover near 45°F with calm winds across Lane County. Moist valley air has allowed patchy fog to form in spots, especially along river valleys and low-lying roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, fog may linger through early morning before skies gradually brighten. Afternoon temperatures should climb to around 62°F, bringing a mild March day across Eugene and Springfield.

Drivers along Interstate 5, Beltline Highway, and Highway 126 should remain alert early this morning. Patchy fog could briefly reduce visibility along stretches of the valley floor.

Conditions stay relatively quiet through the evening as clouds begin increasing again. Temperatures drop to the low 40s with calm winds continuing overnight.

Sunday brings the first significant change in the weather pattern.

Meteorologists say rain develops during the afternoon hours, spreading steadily across the Willamette Valley. High temperatures reach about 57°F, but wet pavement and steady showers could slow travel into the evening.

Residents should also remember the Daylight Saving Time change early Sunday morning at 2 a.m., when clocks move forward one hour. Despite cloudy skies, longer daylight hours will begin to signal the approach of spring.

The next Pacific system strengthens heading into Monday.

Rain becomes more widespread by late morning Monday, keeping temperatures cooler near 49°F across Eugene. Wet roads could affect the Monday commute along major routes including I-5 through Lane County.

By Monday night, colder air arrives. Rain could briefly mix with wet snow, especially in higher elevations around the valley.

Showers continue into Tuesday with a mix of rain and snow possible early before rain returns.
