Eugene, OR – A wet start to the week is on the horizon for Eugene and surrounding regions as heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to persist through Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is set to begin late Sunday morning, with an 80% chance of precipitation. The heaviest showers are forecast Sunday night into Monday, when the probability of rain spikes to 100%. Thunderstorms are also possible during this window, accompanied by light south-southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph.

New rainfall amounts in the Eugene area could range from a quarter to half an inch per day, potentially affecting low-lying roadways and commutes. Monday and Tuesday both carry a 90% chance of continued showers, with Monday night’s chance tapering to 60% before climbing again Tuesday evening.

Residents should prepare for wet conditions by checking drainage systems, securing loose outdoor items, and allowing extra travel time during commutes. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds on slick roads and remain alert for sudden downpours.

Temperatures will range from highs in the mid to upper 50s to lows in the mid-40s. Partly sunny skies are expected to return by Wednesday, offering a brief respite from the wet pattern.
