Medford, Oregon – Unseasonably cold air will sweep across southern Oregon this weekend, dropping temperatures into the 30s and 40s Sunday and Monday mornings—raising frost concerns east of the Cascades, including Klamath Falls and Lakeview.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, temperatures early Sunday could bottom out at 32°F in Chiloquin and 34°F in Alturas, with a 10–30% chance of frost developing in exposed areas, especially in Klamath and Lake counties. Monday morning will remain cold, with lows ranging from 31°F in Fort Rock to 38°F near Mount Shasta.

Cities west of the Cascades—like Grants Pass, Roseburg, and Medford—will see lows in the 40s, but the chillier air eastward poses a risk to gardens, outdoor pets, and unprotected water lines. Residents are urged to cover plants, bring pets indoors, and avoid leaving hoses connected overnight.

This weekend’s cold snap comes just days after summer’s official arrival, marking one of the coldest late-June mornings in recent years for the region.

Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly by midweek, but NWS officials advise checking for updated advisories as conditions evolve.
