Pendleton, OR – A Wind Advisory remains in effect for parts of Oregon through early Friday, with forecasters warning of gusts strong enough to impact travel across the Kittitas Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, northwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph, are expected through 2 a.m. Friday. Forecasters place confidence at 70 to 90 percent that these conditions will develop.

The advisory, issued Thursday, emphasizes potential travel difficulties, especially for high-profile vehicles such as trucks, RVs, and trailers. Drivers are urged to allow extra space between vehicles, slow down in exposed areas, and stay alert for sudden gusts.

The weather service also recommends travelers check road conditions before leaving and use tools like TripCheck to monitor the latest updates. Loose outdoor items should be secured to prevent wind damage.

With a Weather Risk Level of 2 out of 5, forecasters note that while conditions are not extreme, the strong winds may still cause localized hazards and disruptions.

The advisory will remain in place until early Friday morning, with winds expected to ease later in the day.
