Pendleton, OR – Additional snowfall of 4 to 6 inches is forecast across mountain highways in northeast Oregon and southeast Washington through Wednesday afternoon, creating potential travel impacts.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, snow showers are expected to continue across the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades and the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and Washington. The forecast calls for an additional 4 to 6 inches of accumulation in higher elevations.

Impacted routes include U.S. Highway 20, Oregon Highway 204, and Interstate 84, as well as Santiam Pass. Snow-covered roadways and reduced visibility may develop at times, particularly during heavier snow showers.

The Weather Service advises drivers to check updated forecasts and road conditions before traveling. Officials recommend leaving extra distance between vehicles, slowing down, and ensuring traction devices meet state requirements in mountain areas.

The alert remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon. While lower elevations may see lighter accumulations, mountain passes are expected to experience the greatest impacts.

Commuters, commercial drivers, and students traveling through higher terrain should prepare for winter driving conditions, especially during early morning and evening travel periods.

Travelers can monitor the latest updates at Weather.gov and through state transportation websites, including ODOT and WSDOT, for real-time roadway information.
