Pendleton, OR – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and the Northwest Blue Mountains of Washington through 11 p.m. Thursday, with up to 8 inches of snow expected above 4,500 feet. Strong winds reaching 45 mph could further impact travel and cause tree damage.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, periods of moderate to heavy snow will reduce visibility and create hazardous road conditions, particularly in areas like Meacham, Tollgate, and Ski Bluewood Resort. Drivers should use caution and check road conditions at tripcheck.com in Oregon and wsdot.wa.gov/travel in Washington.

In addition, the upper slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest, including Roslyn and Easton, are expected to receive 6 to 11 inches of snow at pass levels. Areas above 5,000 feet could see accumulations of up to 18 inches, with wind gusts reaching 35 mph. The heavy snowfall and breezy conditions are likely to make travel challenging.

Residents and travelers are advised to slow down, use caution, and prepare for changing road conditions. For updated travel advisories, visit state transportation websites or call 511 for real-time road updates.
