Pendleton, OR – The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Wind Advisory for much of central and north-central Oregon and southeastern Washington, in effect until 11 p.m. PDT Friday, October 24, 2025.

According to the National Weather Service, southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph are expected this evening as a cold front moves through the Pacific Northwest. Areas under the advisory include Bend, Redmond, Heppner, Prineville, Condon, Yakima, Tri-Cities, Goldendale, and Walla Walla.

The strongest winds are forecast for the foothills of the Blue Mountains and the Columbia Basin, including parts of Sherman, Gilliam, Morrow, and Umatilla Counties in Oregon, and Yakima, Benton, and Franklin Counties in Washington.

Forecasters warn that unsecured objects may be blown around, and tree limbs could be downed, leading to isolated power outages. Drivers—especially those operating high-profile vehicles—should use extra caution, particularly along Highway 97, I-82, and I-84.

Winds are expected to ease late tonight as the front passes eastward, followed by cooler, calmer conditions Saturday.
