Pendleton, OR – The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories for the Blue Mountains and Cascade Mountains in Oregon and Washington, warning of heavy snow, gusty winds, and hazardous travel this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to develop Saturday night and continue through Monday morning, with accumulations ranging from 4 to 10 inches above elevations of 4,000 to 4,500 feet.
In Oregon, the advisory covers the East Slopes of the Cascades, including Camp Sherman, La Pine, Sunriver, and Sisters, where up to 10 inches of snow and wind gusts to 50 mph are forecast between 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Monday.
The Northern Blue Mountains, including Meacham, Tollgate, and Ski Bluewood Resort, are also expected to receive 4–8 inches of snow from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday.
In Washington, the Upper Slopes of the Eastern Cascades Crest, including Roslyn and Easton, could see 6–10 inches of snow from Saturday night through Sunday evening, with winds up to 35 mph reducing visibility.
Officials warn that mountain passes and high-elevation highways could become slick and snow-covered, especially during periods of heavy snowfall.
