Pendleton, OR – Multiple Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect across Oregon and Washington’s mountain ranges through early Monday, with forecasters warning of heavy snow and gusty winds making travel difficult through the Cascades and Blue Mountains.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, snow will begin Saturday evening and intensify Sunday morning, continuing through Monday morning above 4,000 to 4,500 feet. Accumulations are expected to reach 6 to 10 inches across the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades and Upper Slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades, and 4 to 8 inches in the Blue Mountains.
Winds could gust up to 50 mph, especially near La Pine, Sisters, Sunriver, and Roslyn, creating areas of blowing snow and low visibility. The most challenging conditions are anticipated along U.S. 20, I-90, and I-84, where slick roads and reduced visibility may lead to hazardous driving.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and check TripCheck.com (Oregon) or wsdot.wa.gov/travel (Washington) before traveling. Road conditions are expected to improve late Monday as the storm system exits the region.
Motorists should carry emergency kits, including warm clothing, tire chains, food, and water, when traveling in mountain areas this weekend.
